Batesville Grand Opening!
The new George’s Pharmacy store and retail center in Batesville is open for business, the newest and largest store for the locally-owned pharmacy.
The project was a massive undertaking, converting an 11,000 square foot auto dealership into a 14,000 square foot facility, including the retail pharmacy, a new delivery-hub and warehouse for all George’s stores, new office space, and commercial rental units. The store also brings over 20 new jobs to the Batesville area.
George’s Batesville store includes a modern pharmacy, a showroom for durable medical equipment, an extensive gift area, and offers beer, wine and spirits. It will also soon have a floral department. The store is George’s sixth location, joining Brookville, Sunman, Versailles, Bright and Milan for the locally owned pharmacy. George’s is known for convenience, with each store having a drive-thru window, and providing free delivery of prescriptions anywhere in southeast Indiana.
“We would like to thank all of our customers who have helped us grow over the years, and also thank everyone who have welcomed us to Batesville ,” says George’s founder and namesake George Gillman. “We’ve always wanted to have a store in Batesville, and are happy to open this new store for the community.”
The Gillman family has many ties to Batesville already. George’s brother is Batesville resident Charlie Gillman, the owner of the local Do-It-Best hardware stores. George’s sister Therese, was the President of Oldenburg Academy for many years, and another sister, Annette, is the Lab Manager at Margaret Mary Health. George’s Pharmacy truly is a family business, with George’s sons, Blake and Trent primarily running operations.
“We can’t thank everyone enough for the success and growth of George’s,” says Blake Gillman. “We’re very excited about the new store, and look forward to not only serving people of Batesville, but providing even better service to all of southeastern Indiana.”
